WHAT? I had 2 aims for GCSEs: pass everything and get at least one grade 9. Well, I got at least a 6 on everything, which is two grades above a pass, and I got 2 grade 9s. I was not expecting that. First of all, as soon as I opened my envelope, I rushed to check English Language. Grade 6 makes me so happy. And literature at a 7?? I thought I would have to Hyde (get it) my results from other people but I guess not. Maths I was really happy with as my teacher told me if I push myself I could achieve a 7 instead of a 6. On the contrary, it seems like lots of people were unhappy with maths as the grade boundaries had jumped by 20 marks. For science, I was secretly hoping I would get a grade 9, and I am happy I did, though I won't exactly be putting it to any use. Statistics at a 7 was a real surprise considering I left out what I would assume were most questions. D&T and Media at grade 6 were expected. For media, I think my coursework was great but my grade was dragged down by the AWFUL paper 1 that Eduqas decided to give me. I'm still annoyed they didn't include newspapers. Computer science I knew I would get an 8 but hoped for a 9, but it's okay since I expected it. Spanish I would be absolutely seething with rage if I didn't get a 9. AQA have this awful rule about "90 words approximately" and "150 words approximately" (not a direct quote but it gets the point across) on their Spanish writing papers. Well I wrote over 200 words for the 90 word task so i was concerned that my work wouldn't get marked properly. It doesn't matter though since I didn't realise that writing is only 25% and I did well anyway.
Overall, I am elated that my results went the best way possible and I hope that everyone else got good results.
